Quick links to information on visa categories and other helpful
information can be found below. These links will take you to information

this site for details about applying for a visa in your country.
You may also want to read the Immigration
Rules as your visa application will need to meet these requirements.

Long term visit visas
Long term multiple entry visit visas are valid for 1, 2, 5 or
10 years.
Long term visas will benefit frequent travellers to the UK who
are family visitors, business visitors or tourists. You cannot
apply for a long term visa if you are a student visitor, entertainer
visitor or sports visitor.
Qualifying for a long term visit visa
Long term visas are for visitors who travel to the UK frequently.
It is unlikely that you will qualify for a long term visit visa
if you do not have evidence of travel outside of your home country.
It is unlikely that you will qualify for a long term visit visa
if you are applying for the first time so you should apply for
a standard 6 month visa if you have not made any previous successful
visa applications.
It is helpful for the visa officer to see evidence of your travel
to other countries within the last 5 years, particularly the
UK, USA, Canada , Australia, New Zealand, any Schengen country
(including Ireland), Switzerland. If you have been refused entry,
deported or made to leave any country, it is unlikely that you
will qualify for a long term visit visa. The visa officer will
also want to be satisfied that your circumstances in your country
of residence are stable, for example proof of your employment
and/or income, details of property that you own, details of
your domestic/family circumstances.
Please note: Applying for a long term visit visa does
not guarantee that you will be issued with the validity of the
visa you have applied for. If you have paid a long-term visit
visa fee but the UK Border Agency visa officer decides to issue
a visa that is valid for a shorter period, the difference in
fee will not be refunded.
